Balance in the Church

February 27, 2010

At the age of 45, having been a Christian all my life and having had a born again experience about 10 years ago and recently some realizations about the reality of Christian life, I am in a real quandary about choosing a church and maybe even going to church at all anymore. I wonder how many others are experiencing this same dilemma. I’m not giving up on God but maybe just feeling a need to avoid His followers.

Christians and Yoga

February 21, 2010

The debate rages on…can a Christian practice Yoga? I don’t really want to get into this but I will because I like the physical benefits of the stretches used in yoga. So there you go, you know I am going to be writing from a biased point of view.

Question – Is God Keeping a Record? Rev. 20:12 / Heb 8:12

February 19, 2010

Lately I’ve been thinking about the idea that there is a record book with names in it that the Bible says Jesus will refer to when considering us for Heaven or Hell. I’m a little confused because there is a message preached in churches and in worship songs that says, “God keeps no record of our shame/sins.”

Bible Study of Malachai 3:10 ~ Blessed Because You Tithe?

February 15, 2010

A false teaching that is prevalent in many Christian churches these days is one that says, “You will be blessed because you tithe.” That is, give money to your church or pastor. You will hear things like, “You will be blessed beyond anything you can imagine, pressed down, running over, you can’t out-give God! And so on and so on.” But in reality, this is simply not true. Bible Study ~ Hebrews 13:17 ~ Obedience

February 15, 2010

Preamble: Please don’t misunderstand the following conclusions I have made…I do not wish to suggest that anyone should never heed the advice of a pastor. A pastor should expect that some people might want help with making certain decisions. My purpose here is to prove that a Pastor should not be the final judge of all of your decisions nor are they in any position to dictate how you behave outside of the church building or apart from the institution known as the church. The Holy Spirit is your guide for your behaviour apart from the church building.

Bible Study – Hebrews 11:1 – Is Faith Evidence?

February 10, 2010

Heb. 11:1 reads: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. KJV

Question: How can FAITH be EVIDENCE?

The Ministry of Healing and the Business of Miracles

February 10, 2010

I’ve always believed that as a Christian I am called to live by faith and not by sight, which I think I do. I have not seen Jesus and I believe He is the way. I have not seen the dead arise but I believe they will arise. Admittedly, however I do have doubts and questions for God sometimes. What human being, in the pursuit of understanding God and the Bible has not stood before a mountain after reading Mat. 17:20 and declared “MOVE” only to be disappointed when nothing happened? Is it possible that we have misinterpreted that part of Scripture? Perhaps the “mountain” God speaks of is a metaphor for difficulty in our lives and if we see the context and really believe that Scripture that says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” then that mountain (whatever it might be) will actually move.
